If you struggle with work productivity, you’re not alone. In fact, it’s been estimated that only 60 percent of work time is spent being productive and that most employees admit to struggling with work efficiency.
Now that many people are working from home, maintaining good productivity seems to be harder than ever. People are having to relearn self-discipline, time management, and distraction mitigation all the while, in many cases, working under the same deadlines and quotas.
So, what can you do about it? How can you increase your work productivity, at home or otherwise? Here, we’re going to share with you our top tips that will help you improve your efficiency and stay successful. Just keep on reading to find out what they are.
1. Build a Plan
Organization is the gateway to success. Seriously!
At some point before your workday begins, whether that’s the night before or during the morning before you’re busy, make a plan. What do you want to achieve or finish today? What goals are you wanting to meet before you clock out?
Take a look at your calendar, refresh yourself on your notes, and check your work email. Make a physical outline of your ideal workday and then go from there!
2. Eliminate Distractions
These days, distractions come in many forms. Whether it’s a nosey pet, your cell phone, or even the TV (admit it, you’ve watched an episode when you probably shouldn’t have…), your workday is up against a lot of distractions.
To reduce the amount of time you spend distracted, try to eliminate anything that will take your attention off of your work before the day begins. Keep your phone in another room on silent, turn your wifi off, hide the remote… do whatever you have to do to meet the day’s goals.
3. Fuel Your Brain
One of the most effective ways to boost productivity at work is to fuel your mind and body with the nutrition and resources they need to thrive.
Eating foods with high nutritional value, drinking plenty of water, and exercising at least three times a week will help you to see a difference in your productivity. You’ll feel fresher and more capable of conquering your tasks, plus, you’ll reap the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. Win, win!
4. Reward Yourself
Every time you complete a task or cross an item off of your checklist, reward yourself! You can only listen to that podcast, watch that show, or have that yummy snack when you’ve completed what needs to be done. This will motivate you to work more efficiently and you’ll feel more satisfied in the end.
