Just few days after presenting to the world its complete redesign, Foursquare is now launching a new marketing/promotion campaign in collaboration with American Express where it has been announced the companies are granting small business owners $25 in “Small Business Saturday” (November 26th).
If you don’t follow dates, November 26th is one of the most busiest shopping days of the year, a day after Black Friday. It is also one of the busiest days for mobile users as they browse and search for retail brands from their mobile device (Mobile Insights). American Express already declared a year ago that this is a day dedicated for small businesses and now Foursquare joins this initiative.
Foursquare is stating that there are hundreds of thousands merchants in the U.S. where the small business owner can claim the free $25, after spending $25. How to claim the $25 you ask? The process is pretty simple:
1. Sync your Foursquare account with Amex in this page.
2. Starting from November 26th, check into one of the merchants that will appear in the Explore tab on the mobile app.
3. Click on the “load to card” button.
4. After spending $25 at the merchant store (using your Amex card) you will receive notification about your $25 grant.
If you are asking yourself what is it for Foursquare and American Express then, for Foursquare this is a great marketing opportunity where it can gather many more new users and small business owners and American Express knows that it will eventually profit from users (how many holiday season shoppers you know spend only $25?). However, we are always welcoming these kinds of marketing campaigns…
