The undisputed king of search, Google, has announced on releasing its own yearly review- Zeitgeist 2011. This is the 11th yearly review in search Google is summarizing and this year i think it is the most comprehensive Zeitgeist (“the spirit of the time”) ever with a detailed worldwide coverage in many languages.
With all due respect to the yearly reviews of Bing and Yahoo (which were pretty good), if you really want to find out what were the top global searches this year, you should check at the top search engine. And the top search engine is obviously Google that holds 80%-90% from the global search engine market share.
Google has divided Zeitgeist 2011 to countries (and one “global” general category) and to lists- Fastest rising and falling searches in many areas like entertainment, sports and people. What is pretty interesting is the opportunity to browse through the year and examine how a certain search term from the lists and see how it performed in a specific period on an interactive visual illustration chart (as in the example below).
