WWE is changing.
It once thrived on pay-per-view TV broadcasts and a young fan base. Now, WWE fans are getting older, and they’re consuming media through their mobile devices instead.
To cater to this, a huge range of WWE wrestling apps have been developed.
In this post, we’ll give you ten of the best ones for you to download.
Our Favorite Wrestling Apps
These applications cover everything, including games, news, and even music from the world of WWE.
1. WWE
Of course, the first item on our list of wrestling apps is the official WWE version.
With this app, you can stream any WWE shows on demand, including Wrestlemania, Raw, and SmackDown. The huge video library has every single pay-per-view WCW and ECW show ever recorded, completely uncensored.
Of course, you can live stream brand new shows, too. If watching them on screen isn’t enough, you can use the app to purchase tickets to see the shows in person.
On top of all that, there’s a ‘shop’ feature, which you can use to buy official WWE merchandise.
If you’re a true WWE junkie, this is the app for you.
2. WWE 2K
WWE 2K is the original wrestling game application. It’s designed to replicate the console game experience on your phone or tablet.
In single-player mode, you can choose an existing WWE wrestler or create your own character from scratch. There’s also an online multiplayer mode, so you can play with your friends, too.
As you play, you can unlock new moves and features for your chosen character, as well as other superstars to play with.
Unfortunately, this app does come at a price. In order to download it, you’ll have to pay $7.99.
3. WWE Tap Mania
In WWE Tap Mania, the objective is to defeat your opponents by tapping your screen as fast as you can.
You’ll start with five characters, and as you progress through the game you’ll unlock more wrestlers to play with. You can customize your wrestler by adding different skins, heads, bodies, and effects as you please. They’ll not only change the appearance of your wrestler but the amount of damage they can do, too.
This game is incredibly easy to play, with very little strategy. If you’re looking for a quick, easy wrestling game to pass the time, this will suit you.
4. WWE Champions
WWE Champions is a combination of a wrestling game with a puzzle game.
It starts off like any other fighting game: by choosing a character. Once you’re matched up and ready to fight, you have to use a panel of colored gems at the bottom of the screen in order to perform different moves.
Before you can strike, you have to match three or more gems or fill a bar with the same color to unlock a move. Think wrestling crossed with Bejeweled.
Your opponent uses the same board as you, so you have to try to spot the combinations before they do.
5. WWE SuperCard
Have you ever played with collectible WWE cards? With this app, you can collect and play right from your phone, without having to make any purchases or lay out any games on a table.
There are over 450 cards, including superstars, divas, and managers. Each card has its own stats for power, speed, toughness, and charisma.
You’ll start with five cards, and you’ll have to be strategic to see which cards have the advantage. In some rounds, you’ll be able to use two cards at a time in a tag-team match.
The animations will keep you entertained while you play, and along the way, you might even come across some rare cards.
6. Sport Fusion – WWE News Edition
This app is perfect for staying up to date with the latest news, rumors, and results in the world of WWE.
Instead of having to check different sources, you can get it all in one place with Sport Fusion. The app will automatically notify you of any updates as and when they happen. You’ll also be able to watch videos of matches and news coverage.
7. WWE Immortals
If you enjoy classic fighting games, you’ll love WWE Immortals.
This game was designed by the same people behind Mortal Kombat.
It puts a fantasy spin on the wrestling game, taking the original characters and giving them extra powers. In this edition, Big Show is a giant, Brock Lesnar is a cyborg, AJ Styles is a zombie, and Brie Bella is an ice witch.
You can pick three characters from the roster to build a team, then face off against either your friends or the game itself. The fighting simulation is much like Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter, so you can enjoy an element of nostalgia while you play.
