The next story can demonstrate why you need to be careful when selling stuff online, in a unique way… This is the story of Carl Frega who tried to make some money online but got into troubles with Apple.
Frega never intend to buy something special, he only needed a MacBook for his repair business as spare parts. So he ordered a “regular” 15 inch MacBook Pro from Craigslist. But when it arrived, he was pretty surprised when it had an antenna and a place for SIM card…
Frega understood that he has something special in his hands so he rushed to sell it on eBay. There isn’t any shortage of crazy Apple fans and the bidding went up to $70,000… In this stage Apple found about it and demanded from eBay to cancel the auction- Apparently, this is some prototype of 3G MacBook that Apple had a patent on since 2008.
Apple never released this computer to the public and after the big success of the iPad i doubt if they will ever will release such a similar less comfortable product. After Apple will collect this computer from Carl Frega (suppose to happen soon), it will probably buried somewhere in Apple’s basements…
